Zen Yoga, described as meditation in motion, is gentle; relaxing but powerful, it strengthens the body using:

  • Mindfulness

  • Physical alignment

  • Energy flow in the body

  • Relaxation and visualisation to integrate the work of the body, mind and spirit

'Yoga works in mysterious ways! As well as helping my back it's also done wonders for my usually awful period pains. I shall definitely keep it up.'
Elaine

Julie has been practising yoga for 20 years, teaching for 7 years and is a registered Yoga Teacher with Zenways, where she received her training from Zen Master Daizan Roshi.

The postures (asanas) of Yoga are designed to put pressure on the glandular systems of the body, increasing its efficiency and total health. They strengthen the spinal cord, energize the inner cells and activate the whole nervous system.

Yoga means ‘union’ and the asanas help the practitioner to balance the mind and body. They bring a superior balance and awaken subtle energies. Zen Yoga is not just a physical practice but also a spiritual one.

'Stretching the body, relaxing the mind - exactly what I need. Julie is confident and supportive and I will keep coming week after week.'
Jo

Yoga Classes

Avalon Constitutional Club

Monday & Wednesday | 7:30-9 pm

Thursday (Term Time) | 11:30 am-1 pm

Pranayama (breath work) is also part of the Yoga practice and all classes close with a period of visualisation and relaxation, allowing the work of the physical asanas to integrate on a mental and emotional level.

Classes are small so that Julie can give each student her personal attention when required. Contact Julie to check availability before attending.
